Francis Ford Coppola says in an interview broadcast Friday that he lost 15 years of computer data, including writings and family photographs, when robbers raided his Argentine studio. “If I could get the backup back, it would save me years — all the photographs of my family, all my writing.”
So let me get this right, he had the backup copy in the same location as the drive? Not real slick. I too had lost a great deal of data, but did duty, and had 2 backups of the entire drive. My loss was only my family photos, and after 3 more weeks of scanning them back in, I was up and running. Learned my lesson the hard way. Now I keep a copy on my server and another on disk just in case….
He has offered a reward to the thieves if they will return the photos….but thieves don’t strike me as ‘high in the morality’ department. Guess if the motivation was set high enough though, even human trash has a price.
