    A drunken off duty Czech cop stabbed and killed an American visiting Prague last night. Apparently, the American was driving near Sazka Arena when the inebriated cop shouted some vulgarities towards his car. The car stopped to confront the man and inquire as to why he would say such things, but it ended in a brief second when the cop pulled out a blade and stabbed the man. Other passengers of the car caught the drunkard and called the police, the policeman faces prosecution on suspicion of murder. He has been put off duty and he would be sacked from the police if found guilty….you mean he wasn’t put into jail right away? There were numerous witnesses…to say nothing of the remaining car’s occupants….???? Justice, Czech style…

    This story is going to change numerous times before the fat lady sings. Last night they said the American was a soldier on vacation from Germany, now they say he was a civilian who worked for a DOD contractor. Either way, his name has not been released out of respect for his family.

    This is not the first time the Czech Police have been caught breaking the law themselves. With their numbers dwindling and new recruit levels falling fast, they may want to add some incentive, like a salary that allows them to live a normal life.

    Too funny, I just got an SMS from a friend who read the paper today and feared it was me. Granted, there are not many Americans in Prague. Although it is true that they like to embellish the number of us here, we are no more than a few thousand at best.

    Tondo, do you really think I would have stopped the car to confront the man? Je mi fajn Kamo :}

    UPDATE: Now they are saying that the American provoked the attack, and had weapons in the car. Hum, it’s not too easy for an American in the EU to purchase a gun legally. It can be done, but they are giving the impression that he had numerous weapons in the car. Well, what would you say if a law enforcement officer was drunk in public, and then stabs someone 3 times to death? I’m calling BS on this one…but then again, the story will change many more times before it is put to rest.

    Once again, Ztohoven has made it into the news, but this time, the big league. The Czech artists have been written up in the New York Times today, for their seemingly innocent prank. The above depicts a nuclear explosion close to the site designated for the U.S. radar base here. “The incident has highlighted an old Czech tradition of tomfoolery that is a particular matter of national cultural pride”.

    Not long ago a film that became a local hit, “Czech Dream,” documented a boondoggle by two young Czech filmmakers, who enlisted advertisers and publicists to devise a marketing scheme for a nonexistent supermarket. To say that the people were pissed would be an understatement! The movie’s goal, like Ztohoven’s, was to wag the dog: lampoon media manipulation and public gullibility.

    Speaking of wagging the dog, in the movie ‘Lions for the Lambs’ (which incidentally, I have spoken about with numerous Americans here that, ironically, don’t seem to understand the point of the movie), the entire theme seemed to be about American’s apathy towards our current political situation and world standing….

    So, maybe the fact that we now know that Bush and his administration lied over 935 times about Iraq prior to the invasion will wake us up?

    Doubt it….we seem to have entered a new era, one of self-worth. I still have yet to find a Republican that admits to voting for Bush, it’s like they are all in denial. Moreover, I’ve yet to find a Republican that doesn’t vote based upon their tax base, assuming that the GOP will give them greater returns.What ever
    happened
    to voting
    based upon what
    is best
    for our nation?
    What ever happened to voting based upon what is best for our nation?
