A good friend of mine at work is a redneck, albeit a strange one, with a brain and less the booze, but still into his guns…..? I knew for sure that he was a goon when he sent me this:
I heard on Friday that the Russians had invaded a southeastern part of Georgia and had bombed some city there…

I grabbed my 12 gauge shotgun…two .223 semi-automatic rifles….a .40 cal semi-automatic pistol, 5 cases of Budweiser and 400 rounds of ammo and headed for Savannah….I was in Atlanta before I figured out that they were talking about Eastern Europe.

I and the other 750 pickups on I-85 turned around and headed back toward Virginia….Damn.

    If the
    above
    doesn’t convince
    you of the
    mentality of
    a redneck don’t
    worry, the Republican National
    Convention is coming soon!
If the above doesn’t convince you of the mentality of a redneck don’t worry, the Republican National Convention is coming soon!

August 20, 1968: exactly 41 years ago today, Russian tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia and occupied the country for years. Now they are doing the same again, but in Georgia…

Regardless of what they say, the Russians have not departed. Today they took 10 Georgians hostage and stole HumVees from the US. The have placed themselves close enough to Tbilisi to take out the President.

I think NATO means ‘Never Approach The Opposition’…they need to get off their asses along with the UN.

The Russians have chosen to mark the anniversary in the same manner - threaten and invade.

Overlook the grammatical mistakes that the Czech author of the film makes and see what the message really is: Russian needs to be stopped, once again…

The scale of the Bush administration’s failures in Georgia is now becoming clear: The issue was not just a routine bungle; it was a fiasco of monumental proportions.

Why didn’t America’s orbiting spy satellites, the most comprehensive space surveillance system ever created, give adequate warning of the massive Russian military buildup that prefigured the invasion of Georgia last Friday?

The answer is, those space surveillance systems already had their hands full providing a stream of real-time intelligence in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This is going to have a rippling effect on our interests elsewhere as well, namely, the Czech Republic and Poland, where we have promised military support of their nations in return for their alliance. The Georgians feel abandoned by us, but the truth is, we are spread so thin that there is nothing we can do. We are only setting the stage for WWIII. I too would be rethinking America’s ability to provide support if I were Czech or Polish, as a nation, we have allowed this President to damage our country more than any other in our history…

I also don’t think that the fat lady has sung, I beleive the Russians will not stop until they oust President Mikheil Saakashvili. Even if Georgia was a NATO member, this alliance, like the EU and UN, has proven to be shaky and cowardly in world issues…just look at the atrocities in Burma and their lack of action.

August 16: Russian forces are advancing towards Tbilisi, according to the Georgian government, despite a fragile ceasefire being agreed by the two sides.

The reports on Sunday come hours after Russian troops were seen beginning to withdraw from Kaspi and Igoeti, towns close to the Georgian capital.

Fighters from the breakaway region of Abkhazia, who are backed by Moscow, have also taken control of 13 Georgian villages and a hydropower plant, according to the Tbilisi government.

Jonah Hull, Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tblisi, said: “This is indeed disturbing news.

“The word from Moscow is that the Russians have come under attack by the Georgians. But the Georgians are saying this is a pretext for Russia … to move a column of armour toward Tblisi.

“This will destabilise the situation enormously, if it is true.”

I don’t trust a word from Moscow, this is going to be an International fiasco and the EU, NATO and the UN better step in before it is too late…
